Investigations continue into a fatal Macomb County Crash involving two local residents. Sheriff Anthony Wickersham reports that his department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred Friday at approximately 06:30pm. The accident happened on Gratiot Avenue south of 30 Mile Road. Preliminary investigation reveals that the accident involved two vehicles, a 1998 Ford Escort which was traveling southbound on Gratiot Avenue and a 2006 Toyota Corolla which was traveling northbound. The driver of the southbound vehicle passed another vehicle on the west gravel shoulder at a high rate of speed. As the southbound vehicle re-entered the roadway it lost control and went into a spin entering the northbound lane of travel. The southbound vehicle was then struck by the oncoming northbound vehicle. The driver of the southbound vehicle was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The deceased driver of the southbound 1998 Ford Escort, was identified as: Angelina Victoria Maskey, a 22 year old female of Richmond Township, she was pronounced dead at McLaren Macomb Hospital. The driver of the northbound 2006 Toyota Corolla, a 49 year old woman from Port Huron, is expected to make a full recovery. Preliminary investigation reveals that alcohol may be a factor.
