TWO TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER M-25 MISHAP

A two vehicle traffic accident, in Lakeport Tuesday afternoon, had traffic backed up along Lakeshore Road, near Washington Street, for several hours, with two drivers suffering injuries.  The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office says, the accident occurred mid-afternoon as a beet truck was clipped by another vehicle, sending both the truck and the car into a ditch.  Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment with unspecified injuries.  Officials say, the accident shut down both lanes of the roadway and traffic had to be routed through the nearby neighborhoods.  The St. Clair County Hazardous Materials Team was also called out to the scene due to the truck's tank being punctured, with it leaking diesel fuel into the ditch.  The Burtchville and Fort Gratiot Fire Departments also assisted.
