Drivers motoring through a portion of downtown Port Huron have a new twist to their route. Starting this week Water Street will become a one-way westbound street between 4th and Military. City Engineer Robert Clegg says the action comes as a request from businesses around that area. Clegg says a separate order has also been issued to create angled parking that will be installed on the south side of the street. In order to install pavement markings, Water Street between Military and 4th Streets will be closed to all traffic for most of Thursday and parking will not be permitted beginning at 12:00 midnight on October 25th. He says when Water Street is reopened, it'll be a one-way in the westerly direction between Military and 4th Streets. Following a sixty day trial period, the issue will be looked at by the Police Department and the city's traffic study committee. If it gets approval from them it could become permanent, if approved by the City Council.
