Multipule media sorces are claiming the Port Huron Fighting Falcons have fired head coach Steve Shannon after just 16 games on the job. Reports are that Shannon was relieved of his Vice President and General Manager duties on Monday night, a day before being removed as the teams head coach. Assistant coach Mike Gershon will take over the teams GM and Head Coaching duties on an interim basis. Gershon becomes the franchises fourth coach in its 134 game history. The Falcons, who are 10-6-0 on the season, recently slipped out of first place into second this past weekend, however reports claim the firing of Shannon has to do with an off ice rift between team owner Maribeth Hayes and her former coach and not the play of the team.
