Coco Crisp led off the series with a home run for Oakland, but Justin Verlander shut the A's down after that and the Detroit Tigers took game one of a best-of-five playoff series 3-1 on Saturday.  Verlander went seven innings and allowed just three hits while striking out 11.  Alex Avila had two hits, including a home run, and Austin Jackson and Omar Infante each hit a double and scored a run.  Game two of the series is at Comerica Park at noon on Sunday.
