SALMON STAKES THIS WEEKEND



This weekend, while Quota International of Port Huron raises money for local charities, the annual Blue Water Salmon Stakes fishing tournament raises the level of competition amongst those who love to fish. PORT HURON ARRESTS TWO AFTER SHOTS FIRED


 
Port Huron Police say two man are in custody after an incident of shots fired on Wednesday.  The incident happened along the 900 block of Willow Street in Port Huron. The pair being held at the St. Clair County Jail are a 22-year old and an 18-year old. They were arrested along Scott Avenue late Wednesday afternoon. 12 YEAR OLD PLED GUILTY IN CASE OF FATAL SHOOTING


 
Sanilac County officials say a 12-year-old Marlette Township boy has pled guilty in the case of an accidental fatal shooting that saw an 11-year-old boy dying of his injuries. ROADWORK CLOSES SECTION OF SANBORN THIS WEEK

GATOR OFFICIALLY OPENS

Tigers Top Angels 2-1


Despite only five hits, the Detroit Tigers eked out a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Easter Sunday at Comerica Park.  Rick Porcello went seven innings for the win, allowed just one run on five hits.  Joe Nathan picked up a save, striking out two in the ninth.  The Tigers took two out of three in the series and host the Chicago White Sox on Monday night in game one of a four

Falcons Can't Score


For the second night in a row the Port Huron Fighting Falcons were frustrated by Trevor Gorsuch, who made 28 saves for his second shutout in a row.  The Michigan Warriors beat the Falcons 3-0 at McMorran Arena to take a 2-0 series lead in the best-of-five North Division Final.  Tyler Groat had two goals for the Warriors, who host game three in Flint on Friday, April 25.

Tigers Clip Halos


Nick Castellanos and Victor Martinez hit home runs as the Detroit Tigers beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 on Satuday at Comerica Park.  Max Scherzer struck out nine over seven innings and allowed just one run for the win.  The final game of a three game series is set for Sunday afternoon.

Tigers Get Crushed


Howie Kendricks smacked two home runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels to an 11-6 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.  Ian Kinsler had three hits and knocked in two runs for the Tigers.  Game two of a three game weekend series is Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Wings Blank Bruins


Pavel Datsyuk scored late in the third period to give the Detroit Red Wings a 1-0 win over the Boston Bruins in game one of a best-of-seven playoff series on Friday night.  Jimmy Howard made 25 saves for the shutout.  Game two is in Boston on Sunday afternoon.

Overtime Thriller


Colin Larkin scored 5:37 into the third overtime to give the Michigan Warriors a 1-0 lead in game one of a best-of-five series against the Port Huron Fighting Falcons on Friday night at McMorran Arena.  Trevor Gorsuch made 55 saves for the shutout, while Alex Blankenburg made 51 saves for the Falcons.  Game two of the series is Saturday night in Port Huron.

Tigers Top Tribe


Ian Kinsler hit a home run a drove in four runs on Thursday as the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 7-5.  Austin Jackson knocked in two runs for Justin Verlander, who earned the win.  Verlander went five and did not allow an earned run.  Joe Nathan pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save.  Detroit will host the Angels on Friday night to open a three game series.
