It looks like the contest for the 83rd District State Representative seat has come to an end today after a recount of the ballots cast in last month's primary election showing incumbent Paul Muxlow still coming out on top of candidate and former Port Huron Fire Chief Bob Eick. St. Clair County Clerk Jay DeBoyer says the recount was officiated by the state board of canvassers, with each candidate picking up a few votes, but it still leaves Muxlow on top. He says the final tally shows incumbent Muxlow with nearly 140 votes over Eick between St. Clair and Sanilac Counties. The earlier total from St. Clair and Sanilac Counties last month showed Muxlow with 132 more votes over Eick. DeBoyer says while the recount could still be appealed by either candidate, at this point it doesn't seem likely.
