RECOUNT FOR STATE REP SEAT ON FRIDAY

We should know more by week's end about the recount of the August primary election ballots asked for by candiate Bob Eick, who ran against incumbent Paul Muxlow for the 83rd District State Representative seat.  St. Clair County Clerk Jay DeBoyer says the votes that were cast in the county last month will be coming in today from the municipalities involved, namely Port Huron, Fort Gratiot and Burtchville Townships.  Eick asked for the recount with just 132 votes difference between him and Muxlow in St. Clair and Sanilac Counties.  DeBoyer says Eick will have to pay $10 for each of the 18 precincts recounted in the county, plus the precincts in Sanilac.  The cost for St. Clair, he says, adds up to less than $1000 dollars.  If an appeal is asked for by either candidate then the process continues with the state board of canvassers.
