It's Port Huron's signature event... that of course is the annual yacht race up to Mackinac Island, along with the Blue Water Fest and other events going on in the local area this week.  But the events go beyond attracting visitors and out of towners, they also become an identifier, a way in which tourists and others think about the Blue Water Area.  Vickie Ledsworth at the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce says the summeritme events give residents a chance to show off what the area has to offer.  Ledsworth says in terms of tourism and attracting visitors, the events have a huge economic impact, with thousands coming to the area with dollars to spend.
