Approved Monday: funding for the Harker Street Project, which could help lead to redevelopment projects along the St Clair River.  The one way connector would give motorists a choice to continue straight when getting off the new I-94/I-69 exit ramp, south of the Blue Water Bridge.  Two way traffic would resume on Harker street to St Clair Street.  The connector will play as a main entry to the proposed development of a convention center, redevelopment of the Thomas Edison Inn and a Baker College culinary school along the waterfront.  Work on the connector is expected to start and be completed this Fall. Also approved was the vacating of an alleyway that once served as a border between the Peerless site and the back of residential properties along Saint Clair Street.  In other business council discussed the approval of a new taxicab business in the city.  After approval, yesterday evening there are now four taxicab companies authorized to operate in the City of Port Huron.  ExecuRide Limousine Service has been serving St Clair County for many years.  Also  discussed was the collaborative effort between the Port Huron and Marysville Fire Departments, set to take effect July 1st.  The council approved the organizational chart that outlines the flow of authority and the intergovernmental agreement approved by both cities.  Marysville Fire Chief Tom Konik  will oversee both fire departments to lessen the cost for each community.
