They did it. The United Way of Saint Clair County tallied up funds over their goal of $1,450,00. The announcement was made Thursday night at a campaign celebration held at the Thomas Edison Inn. Campaign Chair Tim Lubbers says many groups helped out in getting the dollars pledged. Some 160 were in attendance at the event which was themed the Oscars to honor the stars of the community that helped in the campaign. The evening wrapped up with a tribute to Richard Cummings who was honored for his many years of service to the organization. He began working with the local United Way some 45-years ago. He was given a Labor Union tribute from Paul Schemanski out of Washington, D.C. who represented the IAMAW.
