WATER STREET ACCESS SET TO OPEN

That special access road to Water Street from the westbound interstates in Port Huron should be open for traffic this holiday weekend...the word from Michigan Department of Transportation spokesman Rob Morosi who says the temporary fix will likely be in place until just before the end of the construction on the project which is expected to wrap up in November. Businesses and residents in the local area had complained on the lack of a Water Street access from the insterstate....especially with plans for closing down a portion of water for utility work. The timetable remains fine for the projects with delivery earlier this week of huge 145-foot beams that are being placed over the Black River for two new bridges that are being built.  They were delivered via I-69 from Decatur, Indiana and did a turnaround loop at Hancock and Pine Grove Avenue.
