UNDERGROUND RAILROAD HIGHLIGHTED AT MUSEUM




The Port Huron Museum is hosting two exhibits that highlights the Blue Water Area's African American history Port Huron was many freedom hunters' last stop before crossing the boader into Canada and the museum wants to celebrate this tradition with the "Passage to Freedom: Secrets of the Underground Railroad" and the "Quilting Sisters: African American Quilting in Michigan" exhibits.  These exhibits show the history of the railroad in the local area as well as show the migration and family history through the quilts made at that time.  Some events promoting the showcase include Learn Hand Brodery on December 8th, Fort Gratiot in the Civil War on Decmber 15th and Learning the Constellations under The Night Sky on January 12th.  These exhbits run now through February 24th and for more information call 982-0891.
