Jhonny Peralta hit two home runs and drove in three runs as the Detroit Tigers bombed the New York Yankees 8-1 to sweep the ALCS and head back to the World Series for the first time since 2006.  Miguel Cabrera added a two run home run and Austin Jackson hit a solo shot, while Max Scherzer struck out ten Yankees in less than six innings.  Detroit will face the winner of the NLCS between St. Louis and San Francisco in the World Series, which will open on Wednesday in the National League city.
