Tigers Bounce Back

Max Scherzer gave up a run in the first and then retired the last 22 hitters he faced in a row, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 5-1 win on Tuesday night in Cleveland against the first place Indians.  Andy Dirks and Miguel Cabrera both had a home run and two RBI for the Tigers, while Prince Fielder also drove in a run.  Game two of a two game series is Wednesday night in Cleveland.

Cavs Win Lottery

The Cleveland Cavliers will pick first in this years NBA draft, after winning the lottery on Tuesday night in New York.  Orlando will pick second and Washington will pick third.  With the Wizards moving up into the top three, it pushed the Detroit Pistons back to the eighth overall pick.  Detroit entred the lottery with the seventh best chance to win it.

Wings Take Series Lead

The Detroit Red Wings took a 2-1 series lead on Monday night, with a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Joe Louis Arena.  Gustav Nyquist and Drew Miller scored 31 second apart in the second period to put Detroit on top 2-0.  Pavel Datsyuk added a goal in the third period.  Game four is in Detroit on Thursday night.

Texas Wins Slugfest

The Texas Rangers took three of four from the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, winning an 11-8 slugfest on Sunday night in Arlington.  The Rangers pounded out 18 hits against five Detroit pitchers.  Miguel Cabrera went four for four with three home runs and five RBI..  He also scored four times.  Prince Fielder hit two doubles and drove in the other three Detroit runs.
