Bill Warren's North squad was finally beaten at the North American Hockey League Top Prospects tournament, losing 5-2 on Wednesday to the Central team at Troy, Michigan. Mike Moroso scored his thrid goal of the tournament, assisted by Logan Lemirande and Max Reavis in the first period. Pete Megariotis stopped 16 of 19 shots and took the loss. The Chicago Blackhawks edged the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night in Chicago. Val Filppula scored the lone goal for the Wings on a power play early in the first period. Earlier in the day the Wings acquired defenseman Kyle Quincey in a three team trade with Colorado and Tampa Bay. Detroit gave up a 2012 first round pick and minor league player Sebastien Piche.

The Michigan Wolverines needed overtime on Tuesday night to shake Northwestern 67-55 in Evanston. Trey Burke scored 19 points as the Wolverines made 14 3-pointers in the win.

The Cleveland Cavaliers came from behind on Tuesday night to beat the Detroit Pistons 101-100 in Cleveland. Brandon Knight had 24 points for the Pistons, who had a three game win streak snapped. Greg Monroe added 19, while Rodney Stuckey and Ben Gordon each scored 16. Detroit plays at Toronto on Wednesday.
