ICE AND RAILROAD CONNECTION AT LOCAL MUSEUM

The history of ice and the railroads... they go together much better than you'd think and the Knowlton Ice Museum will show you how.  It's an exhibit called Railroads of the Thumb Region, with items from local historian T.J. Gaffney as well as items from the Knowlton collection.  In addition, the Port Huron and Detroit Railroad Historical Society are well represented, with the exhibit showing the history and telling the story of railroad companies and their contribution in building communities within the Blue Water area and beyond.  The museum's Melissa Davis says it was ice and the railroads that helped make the moden society of today that many of us may take for granted. Davis says railroads unified countries, as well as created fortunes, and enabled the growth of new industries.  The exhibit runs through September at the museum at 3-17 Grand River Avenue in downtown Port Huron.  For more information visit knowltonsicemuseum.org.
