The Deckerville Eagles held off a late charge from Bellaire to win the 8-Man Football State Title on Friday night in Greenville 14-12. Down 6-0 at half time the Eagles scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 14-6 lead. Deckerville stopped Bellaire at the one yard line on fourth and goal on the first play of the fourth quarter, but eventually gave up a 52 yard bomb for a score with 49 seconds left in the game making it 14-12. The Eagles, however, stopped a two point convertion to keep the lead. Bellaire recovered an onsides kick and drove to the Deckerville five yard line with 20 seconds to go, but again the Eagles defense held to win the game. Deckerville, in its first season of 8-man football, went 12-1 on their way to the title. Chris Wolfe had 20 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Stone also had a touchdown for Deckerville.
