Some changes on the way for some departments within the City of Port Huron. According to City Manager James Freed, Director of Public Works and City Engineer Lennie Naeyeart  has resigned from the city. Yesterday, Freed announced that Utilities Supervisor Eric Whitter will serve as the city’s next DPW director. Furthermore, Freed says other changes will be taking place in the city departments that oversee water, sewer, and city streets. He has decided to merge two positions into one to create a new DPW superintendent’s position which will be filled by Shawn Eagle. The City Manager says he has reached a memorandum of understanding with city labor groups to merge the Utility Services and Streets position, with the city manager saying the two divisions do similar work and that it will streamline operations. A new waste water manager and engineering manager has also been hired, filled by Amanda Huddas and Dave Smith, respectively.
