We are just over two weeks away from the November general elections in Michigan. In the City of Port Huron, four are running for the position of mayor, meanwhile eight are bidding for three city council seats. Incumbent mayor Pauline Repp is seeking re-election along with challengers Scott Worden, Trey Smith, and Garth Gurnsey. City Council incumbents Anita Ashford and Teri Lamb are hoping to keep their spots on council. Newcomers Lisa Beedon, Jon Hardman, Bob Mosurak, Arthur Payne, Jeff Pemberton, and Marissa Williams are also vying for council positions. Incumbent Rico Ruiz will not be running for re-election. All of the aforementioned candidates have been invited to a candidate forum which will take place tomorrow night at the municipal office center in Port Huron. It begins at 6pm and is hosted by WPHM and the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce. The event is free and open to the public.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the border, today is the last day for elections in the City of Sarnia. Twenty-three are running for four spots on Sarnia City Council and four, including 30 year incumbent Mike Bradley, are hoping to be the city’s mayor. Polls in Sarnia close at 8pm today.
