Major Marysville road project coming to a close

Work is wrapping up over the next couple of weeks on a total rebuild of Huron Boulevard in Marysville. The roadway, between Gratiot and Busha Highway, is in the process of being limited from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction with a center turn lane. Work on the rebuild began shortly after the school year ended and Marysville Mayor Dan Damman says it is on track to wrap up by the end of the month. Damman says the city did a study with BMJ Engineering to determine the road could handle a lane reduction. Once work is complete, drivers will notice the street has gone on a diet – going from two lanes in each to direction to one. Dedicated turn lanes for left and right hand turns will also be installed at the Michigan Avenue intersection. The stretch of Huron Boulevard between M-29 and Gratiot is being rebuilt by Boddy Construction for about $2 million. Another section, from Gratiot to Range, is slated to be resurfaced.
