The Sanilac County Sheriff’s department is releasing details regarding two off road vehicle accidents that occurred in the county Friday and Saturday. Friday morning, a 13 year girl was injured riding an ATV on Harneck Road in Sanilac Township. She was riding an ATV southbound on Harneck Road and attempted to turn into a private drive when it slid sideways and rolled over on top of the girl. A 13 year old male riding an ATV behind her, as well as neighbors nearby, attempted to lift the ATV but were unsuccessful. Authorities were called and the ATV was removed. The 13 year old girl was taken to McKenzie Hospital for treatment of injuries. Both ATV riders were wearing helmets at the time of the accidents.

Then on Saturday afternoon, a utility vehicle crash at the intersection of East Applegate Road and Goetze Road in Washington Township hospitalized one. A UTV driven by a 50 year old Kenockee Township man swerved to avoid hitting another UTV traveling in his group, when he lost control and rolled the vehicle on the passenger side. A 43 year old Macomb County passenger was injured in the rollover accident and was taken to an area hospital, later being transferred to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, for treatment of injuries. The driver was uninjured. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the Saturday crash and investigations are ongoing in the crash
