The final weekend of Silver Sticks action kicks off today at the McMorran Arena, with a special opening ceremony to be held tonight to honor a hockey player from the local area who will be representing Team USA at the Olympics next month. Chad Billins, originally from Marysville, played in the silver stick tournament as a youth, went on to college at Ferris State, played for the Vancover Canucks in the NHL, and is currently playing for the Swedish Hockey League. Nick Prevost, co-director of the Silver Stick Tournament, says this weekend sees the Pee-wee and Bantam A A tournaments at McMorran Arena and Glacier Point.  Opening ceremonies are set for 7:00 tonight at McMorran Arena.
