News Reporter/Morning Show Producer

RadioFirst in Port Huron is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a News Reporter/Morning Show Producer. The selected individual is expected to establish and maintain contacts, develop story ideas, write, and produce news programs for our family of radio stations.  He or she must also aid in producing a morning talk show and have demonstrated ability to use social media to interact with news makers and the audience, including but not limited to the use of web news stories, polling data, posting of audio interviews, and updating programming changes in a variety of formats.  The job requires covering breaking news items and reporting on local public government meetings as well as keeping up to date on popular culture. The individual needs strong broadcast and social media skills and knowledge of proper broadcast and journalistic practices. The chosen candidate is expected to be or to become proficient in the use of computers including newsroom computer systems, camera equipment, audio recording devices, and use of software for broadcasters such as WordPress, Futuri, and Triton.  A college education in broadcasting journalism or related field and/or prior experience desired.  A valid driver’s license and excellent driving record is required.  Apply with resume and air check by June 30, 2017 to bgilmer@radiofirst.net.
