Pair of local groups and individuals honored

  Capac mock trial team

In Lansing long time local Regional Educational Service Agency Superintendent Dan DeGrow took home an Impact Award this week from the Michigan College Access Network. The group’s Board of Directors award was given to DeGrow for his work on post secondary attainment. Meanwhile in New Orleans.. Saint Clair County Homeland Security & Emergency Management’s Jeff Friedland was honored earlier this month for his contributions in building resilient communities. Specifically it was pointed out that Friedland worked with officials in Canada with plans that involved a mock bi-national disaster. Hats off too for a Capac High team that garnered enough points in regional competition last week to compete for the state mock trial finals. The Capac A team was one of the winners from the Oakland County Regional Tournament last weekend…the state finals are next weekend…..and the cooks are still tops at Baker where college culinary students based in Port Huron walked away from a recent American Culinary Federation sanctioned contest with over 20 awards. The Pontiac based event attracted around 50 competitors.
