The Voyageur Restaurant parking lot was filled with sunshine and salmon, April 27th, while Quota International of Port Huron raised money for a good cause, at the Salmon Stakes fishing tournament. With 105 boats registered and, a 50/50 pot over $900, the event was a king-sized success. Tracy Cedar, a St. Clair resident and president of the Port Huron Quota Club, said they plan to use the funds raised from the tournament to purchase a loop system that will assist the hearing and speech impaired to hear speaker announcements at the planned Blue Water Area Convention Center. The largest king salmon of the tournament, weighed in at 18.65 pounds and was taken on the boat Double Down, with captain Jim Frazer, from Port Huron Township. Other highlights of the event included patio-side grilled food, raffle prizes, an inflatable slide and a bounce castle for the kids.
